Why We Are Doing This
The Joppa Development and Heritage Corporation is hosting this candidate forum to give residents of Joppa and Joppatowne a direct, unfiltered opportunity to hear from the people who want to represent them in local, county, and state government.
Local elections have a massive impact on everyday life — the roads we drive, the schools our kids attend, the safety of our neighborhoods, and the long-term development of our community. Yet voter turnout in local primaries is often very low, partly because people simply do not have enough information about who is running and what they stand for.
This forum exists to change that. Every resident deserves to know their candidates, and every candidate deserves a fair, equal platform to speak from.
How It Works
- Community members submit questions through this website ahead of the forum
- Questions are reviewed and prioritized based on the topics that come up most often
- Each forum night features candidates for competitive races in a structured Q&A format
- Non-competitive candidates are invited for brief introductions
- Both forum nights are livestreamed on YouTube so anyone can watch regardless of whether they can attend in person
- Recordings stay publicly available after the event
2026 Primary Forum Dates
Joppatowne Christian Church, 725 Trimble Rd, Joppatowne, MD 21085. Both forums will also be streamed live on YouTube.
Nonpartisan by Design
This forum is completely nonpartisan. We are not affiliated with any political party, candidate, or campaign. Our only goal is to give the community accurate information and a fair platform to hear from all candidates equally.
- All candidates are given equal time and equal treatment
- Questions are selected based on community interest, not political preference
- No candidate or party receives any promotional advantage through this forum
- The forum is free and open to all residents
